National Sales Conference names first winners of the Millionaires Row award and appoints new board of directors
On Friday 13 April, World Options franchisees from across the country gathered to celebrate another record year for the company at the Hilton in St George’s Park, Burton-on-Trent - home of the FA National Football Centre.
The conference opened by welcoming 15 new franchisees to the network, as well as introductions to Directors of World Options Belgium - Ulrik Topp, Netherlands – Dirk Kruisinga and Director of World Options Australia Malcolm Rees. Attendees enjoyed presentations from bulk mail carrier UKMail, which has recently become an offering for World Options’ business customers, and Whistl, a carrier which we will soon begin working with.
As a special surprise, the conference was then treated to an inspirational keynote speech from World Championship and European Championship gold medallist Derek Redmond about overcoming adversity. Derek was famously carried across the finishing line by his father when he pulled his hamstring at the 1992 Olympics.
As part of his speech, Derek played his famous 4x4 relay race on screen, when he won the gold medal for Great Britain, and the whole room of 130 delegates, franchisees and their sales teams broke out in applause and cheer.
The day finished with our award ceremony that, for the first time in our history, included the presentation of the Millionaires Row accolade. The award recognises franchisees who have reached more than £1 million revenue in shipments during the past year and was given to Simon Douglas from the Guildford franchise, and Russ Thornton and Steve Brock from the Manchester South franchise.

The coveted Your Franchise of the Year award, voted for by fellow franchisees, was awarded to Croash Robinson, and the Rising Star prize, awarded to franchisee or sales person who have brought on the most shipping customers in 12 months, was given to Richard Steele and Lucy Wilkinson. While winner of Shipping King/Queen went to Guildford Franchise - Simon Douglas, 2nd place Whitman Franchise - Stewart Bancroft and in 3rd Liverpool Franchise - Matthew Mansfield and Cameron Wilkey.
Stewart Butler, Group CTO, said: “The National Sales Conference is always a fun affair, giving our franchisees the opportunity to come together and learn about developments within the industry, at the same time as getting recognition for the fantastic work they deliver day-in, day-out.
The last 12 months have been an exciting and busy time for us, we have invested in new I.T systems to help our franchisees become even better at what they do. And since the official opening of our offices in the US in January 2018 we are now authorised resellers for UPS, only the second company to do this, which is a fantastic position to be in.”
In order to keep pace with our growth, it was announced at the conference that our Chief Technology Officer Stewart Butler and Chief Financial Officer James Edwards will take more of a global position to lead the ongoing World Options’ expansion.
