World Options team members take part in #IWD 2020 Campaign symbol for #EachforEqual

The theme for International Women’s Day 2020, is: “#EachforEqual”

“An equal world is an enabled world.

Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.

We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements.

Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world.

Let's all be #EachforEqual."
Quote from International Women's Day Campaign

WORLD OPTIONS IS PROUD TO HAVE STRONG WOMEN IN OUR ORGANISATION including FEMALE FRANCHISEES BUILDING THEIR BUSINESSES IN A COMPETITIVE INDUSTRY.

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2020 #EachforEqual campaign, we’d like to give a big shout out to all the amazing women who are part of World Options, from our head office teams to franchisees across the UK.

We asked two business women who also run World Options franchises, their opinion on equality and what it means to be a woman today. What advice they would give other women, what inspires them and what keeps them strong and focused on their business goals.

HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WE GOT BACK FROM THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN OF WORLD OPTIONS:

REBECCA POPE – World Options franchisee, Heathfield, East Sussex

Q:
What do you think about this year’s International Women’s Day theme #EachforEqual which aims to highlight equality in the workplace and society?

“I think equality is getting better, but I do think there is room for improvement, for example looking at the tops jobs, men still outnumber women and are on higher rates of pay, but we are heading in the right direction which is positive.”

Q: Considering what women have been through from getting the right to vote in 1918, what do you think it means to be a woman today?

“The sacrifices those women made in the past have not been in vain and today this has allowed us to become more equal and strong within the work force and in day to day life in general and I believe things will only get better for our future generations to be even more independent, resilient and to be able to stand proud.”

Q: What advice would you give to a woman who wants to break free from the 9-5 and build their own success by starting up a business?

“Follow your dream, anything is possible if you have the motivation and drive and don’t rely on others to get you there!”

Q: Do you have a motto or saying which keeps you motivated and focused on your goals?

“If you take a knock back, learn from it, move on and stand up stronger and taller than before and fight for what you want and believe in and NEVER give up.”

Q:
Considering what women have been through from getting the right to vote in 1918, what do you think it means to be a woman today?

“I won't deny that being a woman comes with its own set of drawbacks, primarily because our society as a whole has yet to fully embrace the total equality of the sexes. So I find it important to dismiss the constant negative and sexist messages that we hear in our daily lives, this is not acceptable. There are all sorts of facts that definitely make me feel proud to be a woman. Let’s remember that women have been responsible for creating some of humanity's greatest works of literature and ruling entire nations long before gender equality had progressed to where it is now. Queen Elizabeth 1, Queen Victoria, Cleopatra and Joan of Arc, to name a few amazing women from our history who earned global respect for how they governed and inspired people. We continue to change the world across virtually every industry and to re-shape new futures.” #metoo #stopskirtingtheissue #ourstreetsnow

Q: What advice would you give to a woman who wants to break free from the 9-5 and build their own success by starting up a business?

“Address the excuses, listen and absorb everything, be the solution, by fixing a problem, keep it simple and get an understanding of the legal requirements. Have faith in your instincts but balance your passion with wisdom. Keep learning every day. If you want to succeed, speak up about your business and step out of your comfort zone and put your heart and soul in it full time. Go for it!"

Q: Do you have a motto or saying which keeps you motivated and focused on your goals?

“Transformation is not a future event. It’s a present activity.”
