This year’s theme for International Women’s Day 2019, is:

“Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”.

As an online shipping company, World Options is proud to have built a business with strong women in key areas of our organisation.

We have successful female franchise business owners within our franchise network and we have strong women pushing the business forward at our head office, innovating and meeting the needs of World Options customers.

Women won the right to vote in 1918, and are now running organisations across the globe. So, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2019, we’d like to give a big shout out to all the amazing women who are part of World Options, by getting their take on what it means to be a woman today.

We want to know what advice they would give other women, what inspires them and what keeps them strong and focused on their goals.

Here are the questions and answers we got back from the International Women of World Options:

Q: What do you think it means to be a woman today?
"Women today have the freedom to be in charge of their own fate, we can pursue opportunities on an equal footing with men we can follow the example of the women we see around us who are in positions of power".

Q: What do you think it means to be a woman today?
"I feel it is always important to take note of what is happening within our wider society and encourage all women to vote in both local and national elections. Women went through a lot of heartache and deprivation to gain the vote, the very least we can do is to use this vote and not just ignore the issues of today. That one vote might be the one that makes a difference".

"Let it Go! Which means don't let the little things get you down".

Q: What do you think it means to be a woman today?
"I feel very lucky to be a woman in 2019, if I were to transport myself back in time 100 years, I’m pretty certain life would have been very hard for me. In 1919 as a mixed-race woman in the UK I might have been a maid or a servant, it sounds funny but I believe it’s highly likely. Today I have the freedom to be independent, go where I want, do what I want, choose the career and education I want. It’s only going to get better for future generations.
Q: What advice would you give to a young woman at the beginning of her working life?
"Keep learning no matter what age, whether it’s learning towards your career or learning a new skill or hobby, keep your mind active.
At the start of every year set yourself goals and work towards achieving them. Find what you love and if possible, make it your living. The career you start life doing isn’t necessarily what you have to keep doing forever.
Be good to others and treat people as you would like to be treated".

Q: Do you have a motto or saying which keeps you motivated and focused on your life goals?
"Nothing is impossible".
