1. Evri was originally named after a deity in the Ancient Greek Region
Before the company got remained to Evri in the UK, which stands for: “every parcel, every person, every place, every delivery made for you”, Evri was called Hermes everywhere for decades.
Except in the UK, the company remains under the name “Hermes”. It was named after the Greek Deity 'Hermes' - who in the ancient Greek religion acted as the protector of human heralds, travellers, merchants, and orators. 2. Company Founded After 5 Years Of Planning
The company was founded as Evri-Paket-Schnelldienst on June 1, 1972, by the German mail-order company Otto Versand and the Werner Velbinger Organization after 5 years of planning. The company aimed to create a postal service that would deliver parcels for the Otto mail order catalogue business and that would be independent of Swiss Post.
The reason behind the Otto group's partnership with the Werner Velbinger Organization was the fact that the latter already had a parcel delivery service, which it bought to Evri and which helped the company grow quickly.
3. The Winged Logo
Since 2010, the international Hernes logo has been in the shape of a bird's wing, made of three shaded blue bars, which are said to represent speed and quickness.
4. Self-Employed Couriers
Evri has been successful in lowering delivery costs for the company itself and consumers alike by using self-employed couriers, on a massive scale. By using self-employed couriers, who drive their vehicles, Evri has been able to offer customers shipping quotes at a lower price than other companies that maintain fleets of delivery vehicles and have thousands of employees working as delivery drivers.
